Woman buys 18 identical lottery tickets, wins $180,000

A Washington woman who felt especially confident about her lottery numbers bought 18 identical tickets for a single Match 4 drawing and scored a total $180,000.

The Yakima woman told Washington’s Lottery officials she stopped at Wray’s Marketfresh Meadowbrook and bought 18 March 4 tickets bearing a combination of numbers that represented her birthday and the day she got “a second chance at life.”

The woman said she shrieked when she checked the results from the drawing and learned each of her tickets had won $10,000. Her granddaughter ran into the room to check on her and reviewed her tickets to verify the player had scored a total $180,000.

The winner told officials she plans to share her winnings with family members in the United States and the Philippines.
