The SS Rajamouli directorial RRR was released last week to a positive response from the critics. Starring Ram Charan, Jr. NTR, Alia Bhatt, and Ajay Devgn, the film that was released across 8000 screens and multiple formats has been rocking the box office. After a massive opening day of Rs. 20.07 cr, the business of the film saw good growth over the opening weekend. Now on its fifth day running, RRR has managed to draw in a further Rs. 15.02 cr more taking the film across the Rs. 100 cr mark.
Collecting Rs. 107.59 cr in just 5 days of its release, RRR has become the 97th film to enter the highly coveted Rs. 100 cr club. Interestingly, with RRR entering this exclusive club, the film’s director SS Rajamouli moves up a notch to join Rajkumar Hirani and Ali Abbas Zafar as the only directors who have three films each that have crossed Rs. 100 cr at the box office. Looking at SS Rajamouli’s Rs. 100 cr journey, the director made his debut in this club with the 2015 release Bahubali – The Beginning which raked in Rs. 118.7 cr during its run. Following this, Rajamouli’s second directorial, which was a sequel to the 2015 release, Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion released in 2017 entered the Rs. 100 cr club in just three days of its release collecting Rs. 128 cr! Now, with RRR making it to the Rs. 100 cr club, in five days, Rajamouli has become the only director with three back-to-back releases that have achieved this feat.
Going forward, trade remains optimistic about the business prospects of RRR. In fact, predictions state that the overall business of the film is currently pegged at Rs. 107.59 cr, could eventually cross the Rs. 150 cr mark in the days to come.
