Apple Halwa Recipe

Ingredients
Apple Halwa
- 4 Apples, peeled, chopped and grated
- 2 tbsp Ghee or Brown butter
- 1/4 cup Sugar
- 1/4 tsp Cardamom powder
- 1/4 tsp Cinnamon powder
- 1 tbsp Cashews (optional)
- 1 tbsp Almonds (optional)
- 1 tbsp Raisins (optional)
Instructions
- Heat ghee in a pan on medium heat. Add cashews and almonds and saute just till it becomes light. Add raisins. Saute for few seconds. Transfer this to a plate and keep it aside.
- In the same pan add grated apples and sauté till juice from the apple is released and then evaporated completely.
- Now add the sugar and continue to sauté. Once the sugar is added, the mixture loosens up and appears moist. Continue to cook till the liquid evaporates.
- Add cinnamon powder, cardamom powder, and mix. Cook for 1 more minute.
- Finally, add the roasted nuts and switch off the flame.
- Apple Halwa or Apple Pudding is ready. Serve hot or cold, with a scoop of ice cream if desired, and enjoy.
Recipe Notes
- You can reduce the amount of sugar depending on the sweetness of the apple.
- For flavourings, you can add vanilla extract, a pinch of nutmeg, etc.
- If you like it dark brown or orange, add a pinch of saffron food colour.
- Use any combination of dry fruits and nuts.
