MILK MALAI MODAK

Written by on August 25, 2022

This recipe is so simple to make yet very delicious. You can try it out during Ganesh Chaturthi.
Ingredients:
  • Ghee – 1/4 cup (3 tbsp)
  • Milk – 1/4 cup (3 tbsp)
  • Milk powder – 1 cup
  • Saffron strands – 2 pinch
  • Desiccated coconut – 2 tbsp
  • Finely chopped Pista – 1 tbsp
  • Finely chopped almond – 1 tbsp
  • Finely chopped cashew nut – 1 tbsp
  • Raisins – 1/2 tsp
  • Cardamom powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Milk – 1/2 tsp
Directions :
Put a kadai on the stove, pour ghee and heat it up.
Pour milk into it and stir.
Now little by little mix milk powder. Do NOT mix all at once otherwise, it will cause lumps. Continue stirring.
Now put sugar in and stir until sugar melts and mixes well. It will look a bit liquid however keep stirring until it starts living in the pan.
If you have Kesar which you have mixed with a little bit of milk before you start your cooking and now you pour that Kesar in the pan and stir well. However, this is optional. Instead, you can put Ilaichi powder in the milk or you can put a little bit of food colour.
Now take it out and put it in a bowl and let it cool for a while.
While it is cooling, chop all your fruits and nuts for filling.
Start making Modak while the milk mixture is still warm. Make a shape in the middle and put fruits and nuts in it and close it…giving it a modak shape. If you do not have a Modak mould, use a toothpick or the handle of a teaspoon to shape the modak.
Your modak is ready to serve.
