Besan Ladoo or Besan Ke Laddoo is a very popular Indian sweet prepared specially during festivals like Holi, Diwali.

Usually, it is prepared by roasting besan with ghee and then adding sugar and chopped nuts. But, with this quick and easy microwave recipe, you don’t need to spend time in the kitchen to make these. These ladoos gets ready in just 7 minutes!

INGREDIENTS (1 CUP = 240 ML)

  • ½ cup Besan/chickpea flour
  • 1 teaspoon sooji/semolina
  • 2 tablespoon ghee
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • 10 cashews + 10 almonds powdered

INSTRUCTIONS

In a deep microwave-safe bowl, combine ghee, besan and sooji. Mix well and microwave on MEDIUM power (600 Watts) for 30 seconds. Take out the bowl and stir well.

  1. Now, micro this mixture on MEDIUM power (600 Watts) for 1 minute 30 seconds.
  2. Take out the bowl and stir again. At this point, if you feel the mixture is too dry, add little ghee (about ½ teaspoon) and stir.
  3. Again micro on MEDIUM power (600 Watts) for 3 minutes, stirring in-between.
  4. Take out the bowl, mix well and micro on HIGH power (900 Watts) for 2 minutes, stirring in-between.
  5. Now take out the bowl and add powdered sugar and crushed nuts. Mix.
  6. Once the mixture cools down a bit, take small portions and shape ladoos. Enjoy.

Points to keep in mind while preparing Besan Ladoo in Microwave

  • Traditionally for making these ladoos, coarse gram flour is used. But we have used besan instead and for that coarse texture, we have added sooji (semolina). If you have coarse gram flour you can use that instead. Just add in equal proportion as our besan+sooji quantity.
  • We have used a Microwave Oven of 900 Watts capacity.  The roasting time of besan will vary as per the capacity of the microwave.
  • For the first time, we suggest keeping checking after 30-40 seconds. Also, for the initial roasting, we have reduced the power to MEDIUM (600 Watts).
  • In-between if you feel the mixture is too dry, add a little more ghee (about ½ teaspoon) and stir.
