True Story: Essie Dunbar Lived 47 Years after She Was Buried Alive

In 1915, 30-year-old Essie Dunbar’s sister was late to her funeral; and when she arrived, she demanded that the coffin be opened to see her for one last time.

Alas, when the coffin was opened, the dead woman opened her eyes, sat up and smiled. Essie Dunbar then went on to live for another 47 years until she died in 1962.
