Deepika Padukone says a Hollywood star was surprised she spoke English well; says US visits upset her every time

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone is one of the top stars in the country. With all big-budget movies and multiple successes, the actress is also the leading name in terms of big brand endorsements. She also made her Hollywood debut with xXx: Return of Xander Cage alongside Vin Diesel. While she continues to make waves not just in India but internationally too through her appearances at festivals, fashion weeks etc, the actress says it is still surprising how little people know about India. Deepika recently revealed how a Hollywood star was once impressed with her English.
In an interview with Business Of Fashion, Deepika Padukone revealed, “I know this actor … I met him at this Vanity Fair party, and he said ‘Hey, by the way, you speak English really well. I didn’t even realise what that meant. And when I came back I said, ‘What do you mean you speak English really well?’ Did he have this notion that we don’t speak English?”
She said that her encounters in the US would upset her. She said, “It would upset me every time I went to the US,” she said, adding, “Some of the things that are said and some of the things that are done just [make it] so obvious that people don’t know the world outside of the world that they live in.”
On the work front, Deepika Padukone will next star in Pathaan with Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham. The film is slated to release on January 25, 2023. Apart from that, she also has a cameo in Atlee Kumar’s Jawan which stars Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi.
Deepika Padukone will also star in Siddharth Anand’s Fighter with Hrithik Roshan. She has Project K with Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan and The Intern remake with Amitabh Bachchan.
